Eligibility criteria, income brackets, administrative charges, and required documents for availing Kartavyam’s free Virtual Legal Aid services.
Qualifying income categories
Services are available across three income groups, subject to verification and institutional discretion.
Below Poverty Line
BPL
Lower Income Group
Up to ₹2.5L
Annual income ₹2,50,000 or less
Middle Income Group
₹2.5L – ₹5L
Annual income between ₹2.5L and ₹5L
Who qualifies for free legal aid
Any person falling within the following categories may avail services, subject to verification.
Socially deprived sections
Widows, women within income brackets, disabled persons, and individuals suffering from mental illness.
Victims of crimes & disasters
Victims of human trafficking, forced labour, violence, mass disasters, hate crimes, and environmental calamities.
Children below 18 years
Any child below the age of eighteen years is eligible for free legal assistance.
Transgender persons
Transgender persons are eligible for free legal aid from Kartavyam's Virtual Legal Aid Cell.
Ex-servicemen
Former members of the Indian armed forces are eligible for free legal assistance.
Cases outside the prescribed income limits may be considered on a discretionary basis by Kartavyam depending on the nature and urgency of the matter.

Fee payable at the time of availing services
Minimum administrative charge
₹ 2,500
Payable in the name of Kartavyam through bank transfer upon request. This amount covers administrative processing and institutional resource utilisation.
