What the Virtual Legal Aid Cell does
A wide range of functional responsibilities ensuring effective delivery of justice-oriented services across all stages and jurisdictions.
Free legal services to eligible beneficiaries
Providing free legal assistance to disadvantaged individuals and making sincere efforts to resolve disputes at the local level wherever feasible
Legal documentation & procedural instruments
Preparation of pleadings, memoranda of appeal, paper books, applications, special leave petitions, and other procedural instruments as an integral part of assistance offered.
Certified copies & judicial documents
Facilitating certified copies of judgments, orders, deposition records, and allied judicial documents, with printing and logistical expenses borne by the applicant where required.
Lok Adalat referrals & coordination
Lawyers may coordinate with the nearest statutory legal services institution to facilitate referral of disputes to Lok Adalats for pre-litigation settlement.
Full court representation
Representation by an Advocate extending to subordinate courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India at any stage of the case, subject to eligibility.
Representation at every level
Kartavyam’s advocates can represent eligible beneficiaries at any stage across all levels of the Indian judicial system.

Para-Legal Volunteer Programme
Para-Legal Volunteers are deputed to work with legal aid clinics — assisting advocates, supporting beneficiaries, drafting simple petitions, and generating legal awareness through virtual and physical outreach platforms.

Selection process
How Para-Legal Volunteers are selected
A fair, inclusive, and transparent selection process guided by Kartavyam’s inclusive service philosophy.
Applications received
Candidates submit applications expressing interest in serving as para-legal volunteers.
Selection Committee shortlisting
The Selection Committee exercises discretion in shortlisting candidates for interview based on the number of applications received.
Inclusive representation ensured
Adequate representation from SC, ST, minority communities, and other backward classes is ensured in accordance with Kartavyam's inclusive service philosophy.
Interview & appointment
Shortlisted candidates are interviewed and appointed to work with legal aid clinics across jurisdictions.
